The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, the Classic Center Authority for Clarke County, and the Downtown Athens Development Authority have entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement establishing the Arena District Partnership for the purpose of governing all private sector commercial development activities involving the Arena District (including, but not limited to, apartments, condominiums, hotels, restaurants, and retail), and parking needs for the Classic Center periphery. The Arena District consists of the Classic Center Campus (highlighted in orange) and the District Development Sites (highlighted in blue) as shown on Exhibit ¿A¿ attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. The Arena District Steering Committee (the ¿Development Committee¿) was created for the purposes of facilitating the roles of each member of the Arena District Partnership. The Development Committee seeks a real estate professional or development consultant (a ¿Development Facilitator¿) to advise the Development Committee and facilitate development on approximately 8 acres of prime publicly owned property (the ¿Property¿, sometimes referred to herein as the ¿Arena District¿) surrounding the recently opened Akins Ford Arena (the ¿Arena¿) at the Classic Center in downtown Athens, Georgia. The Arena is on the campus of the successful Classic Center, which has hosted events in its convention space and theater since 1995. Athens-Clarke County is a jurisdiction of over 130,000 residents, including over 40,000 students at the University of Georgia. Athens-Clarke County is both the smallest county in the state by land size, as well as the sixth largest city in Georgia by population, creating an opportunity for dense development on the Property.
