Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking companies that have an interest in contracting with ISU to lease ground from ISU for the purpose of building an Anerobic Digestor located by the ISU Dairy Farm. The company would be expected to also own and operate the facility once constructed. ISU would like to work with a company to assist ISU in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and odor from livestock manure systems related to ISU farming operations, initially focusing efforts at the ISU Dairy Farm (liquid slurry manure) and Iowa State's Ag450 Swine Finishing Farm (deep pit slurry). The process would include an anaerobic digestion system (or other processing method) designed to convert manures and biomass to renewable natural gas while substantially lowering the carbon footprint of ISU livestock production and cropping systems. Potential lessee would be expected to store digestate on site and provide digestate to ISU at an agreed upon time for use at ISU’s discretion. Potential lessee should be capable of working with dairy manure, swine manure, beef cattle manure, poultry manure, and ISU dining food waste. ISU would also prefer capability to digest biomass feedstocks including cover crops, prairie grass, sorghum, corn stover, and similar. This contract would also include providing ISU access to the facility for research, data collection and educational purposes.
