1. Purpose The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) is seeking proposals from state and national professional learning organizations and associations or vendors to provide mentor and mentee training and program implementation in accordance with the School Principal Leadership and Mentoring Act 16-6I-1 - 16-6I-7). The ALSDE is seeking to contract for: Recruiting, hiring, managing and training principal mentors, in-person and virtually, who will support new principals for their first two years in the Alabama Principal Mentoring program. We are looking for a vendor with a proven track record and long history in providing principal mentoring services, conferences, and institutes specifically tailored for Alabama's school leaders and its standards. The ideal partner will bring extensive experience, innovative strategies, and collaborative skills to support our principals in navigating the complexities of educational leadership. This partner will collaborate with ALSDE and its partners in supporting the implementation of this work. The partner will also have knowledge and experience of successful implementation of the Alabama School Leadership Standards and Alabama Principal Leadership Framework, in collaboration with school and state education leaders, to improve school leadership. Background The School Principal Leadership and Mentoring Act was signed into law in June 2023. In 2025, the Act was amended, SB303, to address eligibility criteria. Alabama New Principal Mentoring Program Program Mission The Alabama Principal Mentoring program seeks to support, train, and retain effective school leaders through comprehensive support to enhance visionary, instructional, managerial and operational, relational, and innovative leadership to increase student achievement, growth, and school climate. New principals will receive mentoring support for Year 1 and Year 2 of their principalship. By doing so, school leaders will improve educational outcomes for their students and positively impact the school climate. Program Vision Every school is equipped with an effective leader who successfully participates in and engages with the Alabama Principal Mentoring Program. This program will empower school principals to enhance their leadership capabilities, adopt an effective school climate and meet the needs of their school. Program Measures of Success .
