The City of South Lake Tahoe (“the City”) is seeking a Licensed Timber Operator (LTO) contractor(s) to provide hazardous fuels reduction services on the U.S. Department of the Interior (“DOI”), Bureau of Land Management (“BLM”) funded “SNPLMA Fuels Reduction – South Lake Tahoe, Project SL01, Priority 18-13” project (Attachment 4) during the 2025 and 2026 operational seasons. Anticipated contract timelines are set to commence no later than Tuesday, September 9,2025 and terminate Friday, December 1st, 2028. The project will look to reduce 149.82 acres of hazardous fuels at three (3) City-owned properties to reduce the severity of wildfire behavior, improve defensible space protection to adjoining private lands, and enhance forest ecosystem health. The three (3) project locations, showcased in Attachment 3, will include: Lake Tahoe Airport, Tahoe Vista Neighborhood, and campground/Recreation Complex. Responsible state land managers and the City of South Lake Tahoe will perform all planning and permitting acquisition, as well as serve as project management. Each unit has specific operational plans, specifications and treatment prescriptions. Specific project details are outlined in the Hazardous Fuels Reduction Prescription Plan (Attachment 2) and all timber operations shall be compliant with the CA Forest Practice Rules and 14 CCR 1038.3, Forest Resilience Exemption.
