Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army, RDECOM, Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Soldier System Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order to Mine Safety Appliance Company, Murrysville, PA 15668. The order involves purchasing two hundred and seventy-five (275) MICH TC-2001 Combat Helmets: Tan in color. The helmets are to be provided with size #6 padding and to be pre-drilled with a Three Hole T-Bracket pattern. This is being sole-sourced to Mine Safety Appliance because it is the only configuration that has undergone ballistic testing and has been validated and approved to meet USSOCOM performance requirements. MSA is the only contractor able to produce these items and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy USSOCOM requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that determines it can meet the requirements may give written notice to the Contract Specialist within five (5) calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis.
