Under the authority of FAR 13.5, the U.S. Army, REDCOM Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army  Soldier System Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Southwestern Industries, Inc. 2615 Homestead Place, Compton, CA 90220-5610. This is for the purchase of one (1) Southwestern Industries TRAK 2460 SX Lathe (24 x 60 with ProtoTrak SLX CNC with options listed seperately); one (1) advanced features for TRAK 2460V Lathe; one (1) Chuck (12 D1-8 for 2460SX; one (1) coolant pump for Lathe; one (1) work lamp for Lathe; one (1) Networking and memory option; one (1) tracking option; and one (1) - 1 tooling kit for 1460SX (post and six ho lders). This purchase is being procured on a sole-source basis because this product is currently used and the government would incur an increased cost for training if a new system was implemented. The intended contractor is the regional distributor for thi s product. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. It is not a solicitation or a request for offers. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in t he future.
