The U.S. Department of State Office of Acquisition Management intends to issue a Sole Source Award to FNH USA INC, Mclean, VA for the acquisition of the M249, M240B MMG and the M2.50 HMG weapons. FNH USA is the only manufacturer of these weapons and repair parts (these particular items are not for sale by their distributors). The M249 and M240B are customized machine guns for the U.S. Department of Defense and other specialized U.S. Government Agencies. DS Special Agents will be required to utilize the M240B and M249 while in high threat posts overseas. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304 © (2) or 41 U.S.C. 253 © (2). The regulatory authority for this procurement is FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy the agency’s requirements.
