This Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will provide the Watervliet Arsenal with the required contract vehicle necessary to permit Watervliet Arsenal and Benét Laboratories the flexibly to partner with industry on various delive ry orders for related prototype forgings and castings or assembles that contain forgings and castings. Forgings and castings are forms of engineered structural components that possess design and processing attributes that require special procurement and qu ality systems practices. This contract will enhance Benét Laboratories and Watervliet Arsenals ability to obtain nonstandard (i.e., not common off-the-shelf) items, from manufacturers capable of producing military parts in an agile manufacturing environm ent. It is the goal of this action to streamline and expedite contracting lead time, improve customer support, reduce inventory levels, reduce product lead-time, improve Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and component manufacturability for future production o rders. Industry support is required to help meet this goal and award of one or more IDIQ contracts with well qualified contractors is planned. Utilizing the capabilities provided by such contract(s) will greatly enhance Benét Laboratories understandings of forging/castings design and processing technology. This contractual conduit will allow access to the necessary supply chains, with preference to US subcontractors, but not limited to, who are capable of producing complex finished assemblies of forging/ca sting to military specifications with appropriate quality systems in place. The deliverables on this solicitation will include quality forgings and castings manufactured to the Technical Data Package as well as the certifications or test result reports as dictated by the TDP that substantiate the level of quality required. Technical and engineering services assistance related to casting/forging applications/methodology/testing etc. may also be required in certain circumstances with the deliverable being a r eport, analysis, test results etc. In all instances the specific requirement of each delivery order (DO) will be specified in a TDP and/or Statement of Work (SOW) which is provided for quotation prior to issuanc in of any DO. The material size will be any thing as small as a hand held item, 2inx2inx2in to something as large as a gun tube with a weight of 7735 lbs and dimensions of 24 ft in length, a breech diameter of 1 foot and a muzzle diameter of 0.7 ft. The prototype items could be considering of a vari ety of materials including ferrous alloys, Al based alloys, Ni based super alloys, Cu based alloys, and Titanium.
