The purpose of this acquisition is to replace the USAF containership MAJ BERNARD FISHER (Contract N00033-99-C-3303) currently operating under an MSC contract. The FISHER's present contract expires in August 2003. The charter will contract a U.S.-flag, self-sustaining container vessel for the carriage of a minimum of 1400 20-foot Government-provided ammunition containers in support of the USAF Prepositioning Program.
