STATEMENT OF WORK:CAPSTAN REPAIR/REPLACE FOR PORT OPS AT PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD, PORTSMOUTH, NH Repair/replace capstan-windlass cone drive gear assembly Model VV-78400C-CUJD. Assembly shall include primary gearbox model HV size 7400C driving main gearbox model HV size 7800C Capstan is driven by Vickers M2-540-150-IFC-13 hydraulic motor (Hydraulic motor shall not be sent out, but will stay with boat). Output shaft carries an 18” diameter capstan head and a wildcat for 1” chain. Duty rating spec – The capstan – windlass is desinged to hoist a 750-pound anchor and 30 fathoms of 1” stud link chain at 30 ft/min on the anchor and full scope of chain at no specified speed. The capstan head is rated for 7500 lbs line pull at 35 ft/min. Overall size is approximately 36 x 28 x 23 Mounting hole pattern approximately 14 x 14 Contractor shall examine internal component and determine gear ratio, and make a determination if capstan gearbox is cost effective to rebuild or buy new. Company shall notify Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Technical Point of Contact to be determined at time of award), prior to rebuilding/replacing capstan. Note: ID serial number tag is missing. Capstan assembly shall be shipped with wildcat, capstan drum, mounting plate and gearbox to contractor’s location. The mounting plate, wildcat and capstan drum shall be cleaned, painted and reassembled to rebuilt/new gearbox by the contractor. Contractor shall provide new ID tag and gear ratio.
