The purpose of the Moose Habitat Enhancement project is to enhance moose winter browse using a mechanical treatment provided by hydraulic-axing or hydroaxing. This treatment will be used on spruce, alder, and alder-willow plant communities with a willow component of at least 25%. Hydroaxing methods will be used to cut current stands of alder, spruce, and cottonwood based on accessibility, topography, and weather conditions. Specific design features will be applied to minimize or eliminate the potential for hydroaxe treatments to adversely affect other resources (i.e. buffers).
