This notice of intent is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101 requiring the Contracting Officer to disseminate information for proposed contract actions expected to exceed $25,000.  Further in accordance with FAR 6.302-2  "Unusual and Compelling Urgency" it is the intent of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to establish a order with Federal Cartridge Company for .223 Standard Duty ammunition part numbers CS24450 and XM223SP1.  Such action is necessary at this time due to a substantial risk of depleting the department's current supplies of this type of ammunition.  This action is temporary until such time as contract(s) can be established for this ammunition.

As a result of this current situation and the authorization provided to Immigtation and Customs Enforcement under FAR 6.302-2 it is determined necessary to issue an order for approximately $5M to Federal Cartridge Corporation for .223 Remington (Standard Duty) 64 grain ammunition.
