NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the acquisition of multiple units of alignment barsand support bars, for a soft X-ray telescope (SXT). The alignment and support bars arekey components of the mirrors for the ASTRO-H Mission. (See attached drawings).NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from the Norman Nobel Inc. pursuant to FAR13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably availablefrom only one source. Norman Nobel, Inc has provided alignment and support bars for otherNASA/GSFC missions and are capable of meeting the delivery schedule of 10 weeks afterreceipt of order (ARO).The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. ESTon datelisted above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
