The work of this contract is located at the Visitor Protection facility, Manassas National Battlefield, 10606 Lee Highway, Manassas, VA 20109. The work of this contract includes but is limited to, the following: Dismantle and remove old wood fence fabric. Remove and dispose of old posts, rails, and gate material off site. Sweep with a magnet to ensure that all nails, screws and other metal objects from the fence are removed from the area. Approximate total length of fence is 2800 feet. The current fence layout will be maintained. Provide and install round locust fence posts. Install top two strands of electrified 12.5 gauge galvanized high tensile steel wire designed for use with horses. Wire casing shall have a brown colored polymer coating. Bottom two strands shall not be electrified. The wire shall have a minimum breaking strength of 1,400 pounds. Gate installation -Provide and install ten, 12' seven-bar green-tube gates. Provide and install grounded solar energizer system for top two strands of new fence with voltage regulator and cut off switch. The energizer shall be manufactured for outdoor use. Install grounded solar energizer on opposite side of fence than the horses. Test and certify fence for appropriate voltage after installation of equipment. Grounding - Install adequate grounding material. Do not use the well, water pipe, or the power system ground as a ground rod. Do not use use any metal rod which has a painted surface. Rods shall be driven a minimum of 6 to 8 feet deep into permanently moist earth. Do not install fence ground rods within 50 feet of any utility ground system. Install first ground rod within 20 feet of charger. Use clamp to attach ground wire to ground rods. Install double sided yellow electric fence warning signs shall be placed on the fence in accordance with current regulations and standards. Signs shall be bilingual or trilingual and NOT display manufacture advertising.
