The National Compact Stellarator Experiment (NCSX) Project has now posted to its Web Site a draft Specification and design drawings for structural castings for the Stellaratorââ¬â¢s toroidal field and center solenoid and for finish machining. At http://www.pppl.gov/me/NCSX_MFG/, click on Manufacturing and then Advance Manufacturing. Potential suppliers are invited to provide by Friday 15 August 2003 expressions of interest, comments and budgetary price and schedule information. This invitation is not intended, and shall not be construed, to commit PPPL or the US Government to pay any costs incurred in connection with responses submitted, or to procure or subcontract for any equipment or services. Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Prime Contractor, in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, manage the Project titled National Compact Stellerator Experiment. The mission of the Project is to develop, fabricate, and commission by July 2007 a Compact Stellerator. This announcement is not an RFP. Those that respond to this notice will receive advance notice of the issuance of the RFP for the structural castings and finish machining.
