The Department of Veterans Affairs, Franchise Fund Simplified Acquisitions Office, intends to negotiate a sole source purchase to Ballymore Company, Inc. (VA 200R-12-RQ-0008) for custom-made aluminum pulpit ladders in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 (Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements). The VA Records Center & Vault operates a warehouse that stores one-cubic foot boxes of records on steel shelving at heights up to 14 feet. Boxes are retrieved manually, using special purposes aluminum pulpit ladders in the narrow aisles running between the shelving rows. Boxes are opened and researched while staff occupies the ladders. The space between the ladders steps is used to temporarily hold the 10 7/8" tall boxes until research efforts are concluded. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability by responding to the requirement or by submitting a proposal. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the government will consider all proposals received within ten (10) days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
