The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate and procure on a sole source basis one (1) VariClave Model VC 250 including its ancillary equipment and maintenance services from OnSite Sterilization LLC, 319 Commerce Court, Suite 103, Pottstown, PA 19464-3478. The VariClave Model 250 utilizes variable control technology. This process is known as the VariClave and is patented. The equipment shall include one (1) VariClave Model 250 which automatically varies the residence time of the processing cycle based upon the characterization of the waste and the weight of the material to be processed; complies with PA Code Title 25 Paragraph 284.321 et. Seq. which must be confirmed by multiple tests that are not over 2 years old, performed by a minimum of two independent laboratories; includes automatic monitoring equipment for radioactive isotopes; has an integral bin washing cycle; has a computer and data retention system which is remotely accessible and has an onboard electronic database of operations, maintenance, personnel training, and automatic spore test tracking data, and a failure mode analysis and response capability; and includes auxiliary equipment and services. This procurement is being conducted under FAR 6.302-1, only one response source and no other vendor or product will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. Any firm that wishes to identify their interest and feels that the above requirements can be met may give written notification to the Contracting Officer by 2:00 p.m. on September 21, 2007. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to respond to each of the synopsis's requirements. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government.
