For
Water Purification System
General
The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Gulf Ecology Division (GED) has a requirement for 6 water purification system. Systems are required in the following locations: the Nutrients Lab of building 45, the utility room in building 45, the utility room for buildings 47/49 (two systems in this building), the wet-lab of building 20, and the chemistry lab of building 20. This procurement is for the replacement and maintenance of water purification âfiltersâ. The incoming potable water coming into GED needs to be further purified by means of ion-resin and charcoal bed filter units in order to prevent destruction of the Waters-Millipore âMilliQ+â units. These purification filters are often called âwater softenersâ or âwater scrubbersâ and they operate in coupled pairs of Carbon Bed, and Mixed Bed Type I that form one unit of water purification. Sometimes a detritus filter is included in the set-up. This contract is for a period of one year.
Contractor Specific Tasks
The contractor shall be able to provide, install, and/or service up to five Carbon Bed cylinders, five Mixed Bed type I cylinders, five 93/4" filters, five10" filters, and five 45-micron filters.
Since these units are to prolong and protect the life of GEDâs Water-Millipore MilliQ + and MilliQ +P units these units need the incoming water (soft water) to meet the following two minimum specification requirements; therefore the contractor needs to be able to provide âsoft waterâ with the following two specifications:
Water flow of 1.5 liter / minute at 25 C
99 micro-semens conductivity (99 u-s) / centimeter at 25 C
The contractor shall be able to provide and install up to five Carbon Bed cylinders, five Mixed Bed type I cylinders, five 93/4" filters, five 10" filters, and five 45-micron filters. The contractor shall provide all material safety data sheets with their quotes. The contractor shall provide a list of cylinder types and material safety data sheet when quoting other than what is listed above.
The successful contractor shall have demonstrated experience in the replacement and maintenance of such filter clusters, and has a history of timely response and adequate supply.
The contractor shall quote to state the monthly charge for the rental of the cylinders and a list and price of the chemicals that will be used. The contractor shall provide four past performance references, consisting of government and commercial.
