Sealed bids will be received for purchase and removal of all designated timber on approximately 325 acres located on Naval Air Station (NAS) Whiting Field (Main Base) and Navy Outlying Field (NOLF) Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa County, Florida, until 2:30 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, April 17, 2018 at which time (2:31 p.m. – local time) they will be opened publicly and read at the office of the Naval Air Station Pensacola Public Works Department, 310 John Towers Road, Building 3560, East Conference Room, Pensacola, FL 32508-5303. This is a per unit (ton) sale. Inspection of the timber offered for sale and removal is invited and may be arranged by contacting Mr. Marty Daniel, Forester (850)-452-3131 ext. 3008, or (c)850- 375-7234. Prospective bidders are expected to visit the site and satisfy themselves as to type, species, quality and volume of timber to be cut and the logging conditions. The work includes felling and removing all designated timber on approximately 325 acres as indicated on the maps which accompany this specification. Harvest areas include approximately 150 acres of clear cut and approximately 175 acres of marked thinning. Harvest areas have been designated by marking the boundaries using yellow tree marking paint or orange flagging and will be explained by the Government Technical Representative. All labor, materials and/or equipment necessary for the completion of the contract including loading, shall be furnished by the Purchaser. Most of the tract is not suitable for wet weather logging. Wet weather logging, as defined later in this IFB, will be limited due to potential rutting or damage to roads.
