Gulcoast VAMC in Biloxi, MS is in need of an Advanced Instruments Osmometer Model 2020 to be able to test osmolality in patient samples in the range of 0-2000 mOsm/kg H20 via freezing point depression osmometry. Osmometry measures the total molar concentration of dissolved solids in a solution. The freezing point of a solution is depressed in a direct relation to the amount of solute in solution.
1. Solution, or sample, should able to accept both serum and urine as a specimen.
2. Sample volume should not exceed 20ul to allow for low-volume specimens.
3. Samples should test on a turn-table basis to process up to 20 samples at one time.
4. Instrument should have stat sample capability and be able to recall previous results up to last 200 tests.
5. Instrument should have an on-board printer and a digital read out.
6. Instrument should be a bench top analyzer, not to exceed 12.0" H x 18"W x 14"D.
7. Linearity of instrument should be between 0 and 2000 mOsm with repeatability not to exceed 0.75% mOsm.
8. Required power needs should not exceed 240 VAC.
9. Instrument should use English as primary user interface.
10. Needed materials and consumables should match current needs and stock of existing Advanced Instruments 2020 Osmometer in order to save costs on materials.
