Notice of Intent to Sole Source Requirement The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Boston Healthcare System, Veterans Integrated Systems Network (VISN) 1 Contracting Activity intends to negotiate a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1, only one responsible source for manufacturing/supplier/distributor of the following items: X-Pert C. Difficile Kits, for a total of 140 kits in FY11 and X-Pert MRSA/SA Kits, for a total of 20 kits in FY11. CEPHEID is the sole owner of the intellectual property associated with these items. The associated NAICS code for this surgical equipment manufacturing is 339112 with a size standard of 500 employees. The vendor: CEPHEID, 904 Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089. It is the Government's belief that only the proposed candidate possesses the required capabilities to successfully meet this requirement. It is the Government's intention to solicit and negotiate with only this source. This is not a Request for Proposal. However, any other surgical manufacturer that provides sufficient documentation that they manufacturer similar items must submit their technical capabilities, to include, technical specifications of a similar product line; as well as past performance information specific to this request, price and delivery time upon ordering.
