The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), 3601 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85723 intends to negotiate sole source with Gambro Renal Products, 14143 Denver West Pkwy, Lakewood, CO 80401, for the purchase of Prismaflex System dialysis equipment (2 each). The new Prismaflex system has upgraded features that will improve the efficiency of dialysis treatment. The Prismaflex has additional ports that allow blood transfusion, medical administration directly into the blood stream that prevents clotting. Blood clotting while on CRRT is the most frequent problem for these patients leading to blood waste and electrolyte imbalance. When clotting occurs the filter must be replaced increasing the cost of the treatment. Less frequent filter changes will result in a decrease of infections. With the extra port medication can be provided concurrently to prevent clotting. Additionally on the new Prismaflex units, the screens are larger and more user friendly allowing the nursing staff to use and trouble shoot problems effectively. All responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to close of business (4:30PM local time) on September 21, 2010 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
