This is a combined synopsis and solicitation for the following item(s): The Gainesville, FL VA Medical Center has a requirement for a Fibroscan for use in Gastroenterology liver cases. This requirement specified an electric system which will be utilized during clinical management of patients with liver disease by assessing liver shear wave speed and equivalent stiffness. Included in this requirement are Fibroscan probes M+ and XL+ identified on the enclosed RFQ. This solicitation is being conducted as a "Brand Name or Equal" solicitation using the Fibroscan system as the base line. See item listing in RFQ VA248-14-Q-1412 for stock numbers and details. Vendors submitting offers of other items must submit, with their offer, documentation which clearly establishes to the satisfaction of the Contracting Officer that the equipment offered meets or exceeds the capability of the brand name item(s) specified as defined in the salient characteristics listed in the RFQ. Offers for "Equal" items which do not include sufficient documentation may be precluded from consideration.
