The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS), 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas intends to negotiate a sole source award for a Fresenius 2008K System and accessories by Fresenius USA, Inc., 95 Hayden Avenue, Lexington, MA. The Government believes that Fresenius, USA, Inc. is the only manufacturer that will satisfy the agency requirement. This is sole source procurement under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition (FAR 6.302-1). The Fresenius 2008K System and accessories are preferred by our renal physicians and the only dialysis machines that can meet our requirement. The Government already have 14 Fresenius 2008K machines in use in our Dialysis Center, so we will be standardizing on equipment, maintenance, and operating supplies; The Government believes Fresenius, USA, Inc. propriety development dialysis machines is the only source for performing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Fresenius machines with CRRT capability use our standard acid and bicarbonate supplies, where the other manufacturers would require purchase of specialized supplies. Fresenius machines are volumetric, providing precise measurement of the fluid withdrawn from the patient per the physician’s orders. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes, however; any firm that believes that it can meet the specifications above may give written notification to the Contracting Officer. Responses received will be evaluated, however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, CAVHS will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Fresenius, USA, Inc. The applicable NAICS code is 334510 .
