Operational Contracting, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, intends to award a sole source purchase order utilizing simplified acquisition procedures to Inamed Corporation, 5540 Ekwill Street, Santa Barbra, CA 93111. This acquisition is for adjustable LAP-BAND systems and accessories items. The Government has determined that in certain instances, as determined on a patient-to-patient medical evaluation system, that the Inamed Corporation, LAP-BAND adjustable gastric by-pass system and accessories provide the best overall outcome to specific patients. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. If a response is not received by 22 August 2005 at 0900 hours, Mountain Time Zone, to the effect that comparable products are available that would be more advantageous to the Government, than obtaining the products through sole source procurement to Inamed, Inc., a sole source award will be accomplished to Inamed Corporation. A formal solicitation will not be issued prior to contract award.
