THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Department of Veterans' Affairs, James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital (JAHVH) located in Tampa, FL intends to solicit and negotiate with Synthes (USA), West Chester, PA, the procurement of two (2) Locking Compression Plate (LCP) Small Fragment Instrument Sets. The set consists of instrumentation and implants and are currently in use at the hospital. The purchase of other manufacturerýýýs instruments will require the use of different type of implants. The instrumentation from different manufacturers is unique to their implants; therefore manufacturerýýýs instruments canýýýt be used to implant devices from others. Standardization on sets is required for the care of patients. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all information received by 11:00 a.m. EST, 26 March 2008, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
