The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS), University Drive C Division, intends to negotiate a sole source procurement pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 with Sun Nuclear, 425A Pineda Court, Melbourne, FL 32940-7508 for MapCheck IMRT Q/A system. This system includes: (1) 445 Channel 2D array, complete PC software for importing and automatic verification of patient plans from computerized treatment planning systems, advanced film analysis, alignment and film template, 25 meter power-data cable, serial cable, power supply (110/220v) and 1 year software maintenance. (2) Isocentric mounting fixture - Sturdy Gantry fixture holds MapCheck or Profiler 2 or Daily QA 3 Detector Planes at 100cm SDD. Mounts Securely to LINAC accessory tray. Holds solid water up to 10cm depth. This system is needed for an innovative technique known as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). This technique requires verification of the radiation dose distribution of the prescribed treatment plan for each patient prior to treatment. Analysis of the measured and planned dose is performed within the MapCheck software by importing a dose map file from the treatment planning system. MapCheck software is fast and efficient, therefore, making comparison criteria easy to adjust and readily available. By using the smallest available detectors, MapCheck is qualified to precisely measure steep dose gradients and small fields. Because IMRT beams are collections of small fields and steep dose gradients, Mapcheck becomes the critical choice for QA verification. The MapCheck system uses a large number of diodes which gives instant readings eliminating the need for further processing. The MapCheck process is more efficient because there is no conversion needed for electronic formatting. Firms who wish to identify their interest and capability to provide an alternate system which will meet the capabilities and functionality described above may notify the contracting officer, in writing, no later than 4:00pm EST 3/7/08. Such notification must include a complete description of proposed equipment including narrative and specifications, and must demonstrate that it meets or exceeds the capabilities described above. Notification shall be mailed to Cheryl Ebert, Contracting Officer (90C-H), VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15206. Upon receipt of any such notifications, the contracting officer will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with sole source negotiations. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals.
