This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The commercial items procedures of FAR Part 12.603(c)(2) will be used. NAICS code is 339112, size standard is 500 employees. This requirement is Open to all responsive/responsible offerors. Award will be made to the responsive/responsible offeror who provides technically acceptable Brand Name or Equal products at the lowest price.
This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-74. Only emailed requests received directly from the requester are acceptable. Email quotes to
[email protected] no later than the required due date, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 on or before 3:00 PM Pacific Time. Receipt must be acknowledged on my desktop computer to be recognized as received. This is the only acceptable method for delivery of quotes.

Zeiss Meditec Brand Name items above are acceptable. Other products must be a general fit but a functional replacement for the Brand name product.
General Salient Characteristics:
" Model optics must eliminate spherical and chromatic aberrations, providing unparalleled optical clarity, depth of field and color accuracy.
" Model must provide technology that splits the illumination such that it travels down a path parallel to the sightline of each eye, resulting in a brilliant, high- contrast and homogenous red reflex for optimal anterior segment visualization.
" Model must have a depth-of-field management system that allows the surgeon to, at the push of a button, chooses between optimized depth perception at all magnification levels or maximum light transmission.
" Model must have an integrated HD video camera with medialink HD recording system, controllable from the central user interface handgrips or wireless foot control panel - not from a separate camera control unit - offering seamless transition between video capture and other microscope functions.
" Model must provide factory trained and certified, regionally located Field Service Engineers.
" Model vendor service its microscopes only with factory trained and certified Field Service Engineers. No contracted 3rd party service. Services located regionally so that they can be onsite quickly to ensure maximum system uptime.
" Model must have an retinal protection (blue barrier) filter
" Model must have a foot-pedal activated HaMode filter (mimics Halogen lighting) and a Retinal Protection filter.
" Model must have an XY drive that enables motorized positioning of the microscope head in the XY plane.
Product technical sheet has further technical and operational detail which will be considered in any alternate item comparison.
Generic product identification: A surgical microscope intended for the illumination and magnification of the surgical area and for the support of visualization in surgical procedures for both the anterior segment of the eye (e.g. cataract, cornea, glaucoma) and, when used in combination with the RESIGHTî non-contact fundus viewing system, the posterior segment of the eye (retina, vitreous).
Technical information is required for alternate, non-brand name products in order to make a product comparison by lay persons. No cost shall be paid by the government for said data and the data will be retained by the government as part of the official contract record.
