The Fleet Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Detachment Philadelphia intends to acquire four (4) Reconstruction Plating Systems for the Neurosurgery Department of the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. The required four plating systems are as follows: (1) Atlantis Vision - an anterior cervical plate system that enables the surgeon to create a fixed, variable or hybrid contruct interoperatively; (2) Zephir - an anterior cervical low profile plating system used for smaller patients; (3) Vertex - a modular implant system used for multiple fixation options for posterior use; and (4) Metrex System - a tubular retractor system used to give a minimal invasive approach. Award of a Firm Fixed Price contract is anticipated. The applicable NAICS code is 339112. The Government intends to solicit on other than a full and open competitive basis under the authority of the test program for commercial items (section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996) with Medtronic Sofamor Danek, 2206 Colsten Drive #23, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Medtronic Sofamor Danek is the only known source capable of providing plating systems with an open design and porous architecture that allow for enhanced post-operative imaging capabilities and customization to an individual patientââ¬â¢s requirements or anatomy fit. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within ten days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
