Department of Veterans Affairs Date: October 27, 2014 From: Office Acquisition and Logistics, National Acquisition Center, Business Resource Services Solicitation Number : VA797T-15-P-0002 Notice Type: Notice of Intent The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Hines Service Distribution Center (SDC), Service and Repair (S&R) Department in conjunction with the VA National Acquisition Center (NAC), Business Resource Services (BRS) has a requirement for maintenance and repair of Karl Storz Flexible Rhino-Laryngoscope , model, 11101RP2. The Government intends to issue a firm-fixed-price contract, on a sole source basis to Karl Storz Endoscopy - America, Inc. After conducting a thorough research, a determination has been made that it is in the best interest of the Miami VA Healthcare Center , more importantly, its patients that maintenance and repair service for Karl Storz Flexible Rhino-Laryngoscope, model, 11101RP2 can only be provided by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). This decision was based on strict specification outlined by the Manufacturer's Sterilization Systems utilized at the Miami VA Healthcare Center. The use of OEM components and adherence to OEM's repair specifications is essential to the sterilization validation of medical devices to ensure patient's safety. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested parties may submit a capability statement that includes technical specifications of services, demonstrating ability to provide service and repair of described equipment herein. Responses under this Notice of Intent must be emailed by Wednesday , October 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM CT. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not be responsible for any cost incurred by interesting parties in responding to this notice.
