The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity proposes to award to Cepheid, 904 Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1302, on a sole source basis, for the purchase a Smartcyler System 1 unit upgrade LS, Part No. SC2500N3-1, manufactured solely by Cepheid. The Smartcycler is the only system that will meet the Governments requirements. Competing this requirement and awarding to any other manufacturer and system would result in substantial delays and disruption of several key projects already in pr ogress and would also increase the overall cost to the Government. This procurement shall be under other than full and open competition procedures in accordance with FAR 6.302. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy ag ency requirements. This notice is not a request for a competitive quote. Any response to this notice must be submitted in writing to the Government and show clear and convincing evidence that another system is capable of meeting the Governments requirem ents and that competition of the requirement would be advantageous to the Government. If no written responses are received at least fifteen (15) days after the publication of this response, the purchase will be awarded without further notice.
