The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Wilkes Barre, PA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with Olympus America, Inc., 3500 Corporate Parkway P.O. Box 610, Center Valley, PA 18034-0610, to award a contract to purchase and have installed Olympus America Bronchoscope Videscope equipment, which will include the trading in of existing Olympus equipment, as part of an exchange/sale, for a discount of the total contract price. STATEMENT OF NEED FOR OLYMPUS EVIS EXERA UPGRADE The Respiratory Therapy Service Department is in need of an upgrade for the outdated Bronchoscopy light source, towers and components that are compatible with the currently installed Olympus HL7 Interface and the Bronchoscopes that are currently being used at the WBVAMC. The current light source is no longer functioning and we would be able to upgrade to the most recent generation which is the 190 series. The 180 series is currently in place. Olympus is allowing us to trade-in some of the outdated equipment. This upgrade will include the 190 series Electronics, Cart, and Bronchoscopes as well as a new endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) processor system and scope. This equipment will be used in the Respiratory Bronchoscopy lab and the Operating Room. Installation and Training must be provided. The facility's GI Lab has already been upgraded to the 190 System.
