The Portland VA Medical Center, Portland OR intends to negotiate a sole source procurement in accordance with FAR Part 13 with Compumedics USA, 7850 Pasco Del Norte, El Paso, TX 79912. This procurement is for the purchase of Compumedics Neuroscan 64-Channel Synamps II EEG/Evoked Potential System (Neuroscan EEG/ET 64). The VA RR&D Service-funded National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR) located at the Portland VAMC is the only auditory research and development center of its kind in the nation specifically dedicated to rehabilitation. The NCRAR is leading the nation's efforts to discover new knowledge and develop useful technologies that optimize auditory rehabilitation services for hearing impaired veterans. We must be able to directly relate research results obtained during previous lines of rehabilitative auditory research with ongoing and future lines of research when they are part of the same body of work. This necessitates that equipment used for data collection, management, and analysis, are performed with identical variables. Since we have previously purchased and used the Neuroscan 64-channel SynAmps II EEG/EP64, the additional system will be compatible with what is currently at the NCRAR.
