Background
Medical Service/Ophthalmology OR Suite at VA NJ HCS in East Orange is requesting an additional phacoemulsification (phaco) system for cataract surgery. The purchase of an additional phaco system to be used as an available back-up in the OR is a recommendation by a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) action plan so that there are no further canceled cases due to equipment failure.
Objectives
The primary objective for procurement is to procure the same brand AMO WHITESTAR SIGNATURE system which is a modular ophthalmic microsurgical system that facilitates anterior segment (cataract) surgery. Phacoemulsification is a method of cataract removal by use of ultrasonic emulsification with aspiration of the cataractous lens through a small incision. Phacoemulsification is advantageous for both patient and surgeon.
This is for an outright purchase for commercially available medical equipment under a firm-fixed price contract.
