B.2 STATEMENT OF NEED 1. GENERAL: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612, has a requirement for two (2) OPMI Pico Microscope Systems. 2. BACKGROUND: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital is requesting the OPMI Pico System. This Microscope is necessary for the otolaryngology clinic to conduct ear exams on our Veteran patients who present with otologic (ear-related) issues. It is a binocular scope that allows for magnification and illumination. It is necessary for the performance of otologic procedures, ranging from simple procedures, such as earwax removal, to complex procedures, such as placement of a pressure equalization tube (myringotomy and tube) in the clinic. 3. PURPOSE: For healthcare facilities with an approved ENT program, it is the standard of care to provide examinations via a specialized ENT microscope. The monitor display for the primary microscope is required for the direct observation and supervision of trainees. 4. SCOPE: Video solutions for surgical microscopes are the most convenient way to generate images for information, documentation, teaching, and presentation purposes. The OPMI Pico microscope enables you to better visualize the regions of interest and consistently provide patients with high-quality examinations and treatments. 5. Objective Lens=250 Focus 7. SOFTWARE: None 8. TRAINING: In-Service training is provided by the Vendor to VA Staff. 9. WARRANTY OF EQUIPMENT: Warranty coverage shall be one (1) year from acceptance of completed systems. 10. DELIVERY SCHEDULE: All work shall be completed within eight (8) weeks of contract award.
