This notice of intent is from the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to contract with IPG Photonics Corporation at 50 Old Webster Road, Oxford, MA 01540 on an other than full and open competitive basis. The contractor shall provide 2 ea commercial Model YLR-1600-SM 1600 Watt Ytterbium fiber lasers with the following minimum specifications. Red aiming diode, continuous wave output power of at least 1600W, central wavelength 1070 +10/-5 nm, line width <10 nm, beam quality M-squared <1.2, single mode output, output power tenability 10% - 100%, long term output power stability +/-3% and collimating unit with 50 mm diameter and 200mm focal length. Through market research, NRL has concluded that IPG Photonics is the only company that offers a commercial continuous wave single mode fiber laser at the power level, wavelength, beam quality, and output collimator that meet NRLs minimum requirements.
