The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City, FL 32407 intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Kontron, 750 Holiday Drive, Building 9, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 for the acquisition of twenty (20) 3U VME processor circuit cards for depot repair of the MK 86 Navigation Directors that are currently used by the U.S. Navy. These Navigation Directors provide minefield navigation for the U.S. Navy MH-53E helicopters. This procurement is sole source for the following reasons. The circuit cards are commercial circuit cards required for the MK 86 system. The cards are integrated into the MK-86 with custom software. No other commercial circuit cards that perform similar functions will work unless costly software changes are made.
