The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement to upgrade an existing Applied Biosystems ABI Prism 3100 Avant Genetic Analyzer. This automated 16-capillary DNA analyzer/sequencing system will be upgraded to a 3130XL with mid to high-throughput capabilities, increased sequencing length, increased quality and greater sensitivity. This upgrade will also make the ABI 3100 compatible with an existing ABI 3130. The 3130XL Genetic Analyzer upgrade meets our research requirements and the Government intends to negotiate with the only known responsible source, Applied Biosystems/Applera Corporation.
