NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The national Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, ALOSH, Morgantown, WV requires a Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (APS) Model 3321 for its HELD/PPRB Branch. This proposed contract action announces the Governments intent to issue a purchase order, on a sole-source basis to TSI, Inc., Shoreview, MN. The HELD/PPRB Inhalation Facility currently owns one TSI APS 3321. Custom interfaces have been constructed to allow this unit to work with three systems: an inhalation exposure system, a system to test personal aerosol samplers, and a cough aerosol measurement system. The proposed purchase is for a new APS unit to allow experiments to be conducted with the different systems at the same time, and to allow the APS units to be substituted directly for each other during servicing and calibration. Because of the need for compatibility and interchangeability with existing equipment and software, other units were not considered. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required item are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days fromthe publication date of this synopsis. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice is issued for information purposes only. Any interested party may identify themselves to the contraction officer no later than fifteen (15) days from the date of this announcement.
