NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, ALOSH, Morgantown, WV requires an Atmospheric Pressure/Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (AP/MALDI) Source for Waters/Micromass QTOF-II Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer for the NIOSH/HELD/Allergy and Clinical Immunology Branch.
Mass Tech, Inc. is the only vendor worldwide that produces an atmospheric pressure/matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (AP/MALDI) ion source for the Waters/Micromass QTOF-II instrument (SN:UC153) located in the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Branch. Waters/Micromass does not produce an AP/MALDI source for this instrument
AP/MALDI is an important and recognized technique for biomolecular analysis. By coupling an AP/MALDI source to our existing QTOF-II instrument we can interrogate biomolecules with much more sensitivity, mass accuracy, and resolution than by any existing instrumentation. The AP/MALDI source is necessary equipment for the advancement of several ongoing research projects in the Branch, including tuberculosis profiling and antigen identification and toxic mold research.
