***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Agilent Technologies, Inc., in Wilmington, DE for the purchase of one (1) Bioanalyzer desktop system, and one (1) bioanalyzer electrophoresis set.*** ***The Agilent 2100 bioanalyzer desktop system and bioanalyzer electrophoresis set will be used for The Metrology of Gene Expression Program. This new program will build the infrastructure needed to characterize and address quality, reliability, and comparability in gene expression measurements. This is a sole source requirement based on the capability of this system to analyze a 1microliter sample in a 30-minute time frame.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 30 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 339111, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by March 22, 2005.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
