The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Calorimetry Sciences Corp. 890 W 410 North Suite A Lindon, UT 84042For a Nano DSC II Differential Scanning Calorimeter System. Calorimetry Sciences Corp. The calorimeter should: 1. The calorimeter shall be of the differential scanning type.2. The calorimeter shall be designed for measurement of partial molar heat capacities of biopolymers in dilute solutions. 3. The calorimeter shall incorporate a completely solid-state thermostat and shall be equipped with the user?s choice of either capillary or cylindrical cells. 4. The calorimeter shall incorporate operating temperature of -10 to +130 degree C or better, scan rates up to 2 degrees per minute or better in both the heating and cooling directions, and sensitivity of 1.0 microcal per degree C level or better. 5. The calorimeter shall consist of a fixed cell, power-compensation design. 6. The calorimeter shall be capable of being used to study the thermal denaturation of most proteins with as little as 50 micrograms or less of sample. This proposed action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all quotes received within ten days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government . A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. Concerns that respond to this synopsis shall furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above and are invited to submit proposal and/or capability statements in an Original Plus Two (2) no later than ten (10) business days from the date of this announcement, August 25, 2006, due in COB Sept. 05, 2006. Written responses shall include complete description of services to be provided, containing sufficient technical information to permit agency analysis to establish bona fide capability to meet the stated requirements as listed above.
