The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Gamma Scientific, San Diego, CA, under the authority of FAR 13.106(b), Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The object of this requirement is for the purchase of A Model 19830-1L photometer and a Model 19830-13 UV irradiance meter. The results of market research have resulted in a determination that Gamma Scientific appears to be the only source for this equipment. NIST has a responsibility, via a U.S. Army agreement, to procure equipment that is compatible with existing equipment in order to continue calibration requirements. The use of any other equipment would not allow compatible results. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about five (5) days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to this requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
