NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a General Purpose Low and High Thrust Trajectory Optimization Algorithm. The tool must meet the following requirements: - optimize both low and high thrust trajectories - applicable to all flight regimes (LEO, HEO, Interplanetary, libration point) - ability to combine together different trajectory arcs to include a cobination of low and high thrust arcs - Extensive operational documentation - Extensive mathematical specificaitons - Ability to use the SNOPT optimizer - Ability to analyze trajectories in arbitrary coordinate frames - Modular Design - Ability to incorporate both direct and indirect optimization methods - Easy to use GUI NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Austin, TX. The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Aerospace Engineering has experience and is familiar with the types of mission design tools available. The tool has the capabilities needed by GSFC to improve the mission design process. The University of Texas at Austin is a developer of this product and is the only responsible source who can meet all of the requirements. The Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
