NASA/GRC has a requirement to purchase a FARO V-3 Scanner and Polyworks Inspector Software which will include: (1) EA Laser Line Probe V3 Item 11669 (1) EA PolyWorks Modeler & Inspector + NURBS Surfacing Module Node Item SOFT90001-N (1) JOB PolyWorks Modeler or Inspector- Facility Item TR-POLY-3D-MOI-F NASA/GRC intends to purchase the above system from FARO TECHNOLOGIES INC, 250 Technology Park, Lake Mary, FL 32746-6204. They are the hardware and software is proprietary to them. No other vendor can provide this support. Flight Ops is looking to purchase the FARO V-3 Laser Scanner to supplement the FARO Platinum Scan Arm that was previously purchased. In order to ensure that these systems will integrate NASA GRC requires the above FARO parts. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. The Sole Source is under the authority of FAR reference 13.106-1(b)1. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Amy McNelis ([email protected]) no later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 14, 2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
