In accordance with FAR 6.302-1, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, TX, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with TriPath, Inc, a firm fixed price contract for Automated equipment and supplies in the new methodology in liquid base cytology in gynecologic cytology and non-gynecologic cytology needed in the Cytopathology Laboratory. This method allows for a more extensive testing for the HPV than the method currently being used. It is more invasive in identifying abnormal tests in determining dysplasia that may progress to high grade lesions. This will allow for early diagnosis and treatment; thereby saving lives. Vendors may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement; however, this notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Responses must be received no later than 5 days from the date of this notice. The system must be automated and not in need of having to dispose of hazard waste after testing. Regulatory clearances require instrument system/reagents have FDA clearance for the classification in the new methodology being used at this facility
