The proposed action is for supplies/services for which the Government intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Hamamatsu Corporation under the authority of Far 13.106-1. The requirement is for near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) unit to be used for medical research. The following CLINS apply: 0001, 1 EA, NIRO-300 Single Channel System; 0002, 1 EA, P/N C8006 Detection Fiber Adapter; 0003, 1 EA, P/N A8189 Long Fiber; 0004, 1 EA, Straight Probe Holder; 0005, 1 EA, Curved Probe Holder; 0006, 1 BX, Adhesive Sheets; and 0007, 1 GP, Shipping Charges. Simplified Acquisition procedures will be used. THIS SYNOPSIS IS PUBLISHED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY, NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS WILL BE ISSUED. RFQ N00244-02-T-1277 applies. The Government has determined that this product best meets their research needs. Firms that recognize and can provide the required items described above ar e encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer. Firms believing they can provide similar required items must provide supporting evidence that they can furnish these supplies and meet all specifications. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This contract will be issued on an unrestricted basis, under Standard Industrial Code 3829, NAICS Code 334519, with a small business standard of 500 employees. Acceptance shall be at destination.
