The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Center for Neutron Research (NCNR), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Euro Collimators of Cheltenham, England, for the fabrication of one (1) neutron radial collimator with the option to fabricate three (3) additional neutron radial collimators for use by the NIST, Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) in the new Neutron Spectrometer. These collimators will be designed to NIST specifications and will be installed at beam tube BT-7 in the NCNR reactor.***Sole source determination is based on Euro Collimators being the only known vendor with the unique expertise required to fabricate the collimators.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by February 18, 2003, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
