The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD intends to award a purchase order for a photon counting spectrofluorometer to measure fluorescence polarization of proteins, protein complexes and small peptides. The spectrophotometer must be upgradeable for a lifetime and time-resolved fluorescence measurements. The minimum specifications and functions required are: 1) the optical bench must be a single unit housing all optical components; 2) maintain the size restriction to not exceed 35â: x 24âW x 13âH (available lab bench space); 3) the system must be upgradeable for high-pressure studies for steady-state measurements and time-resolved measurements with Pico second resolution; 4) the system must be upgradeable to mode-locked laser for lifetime measurements; 5) the spectrofluorometer must fully automate photomultiplier tube (PMT) gain, shutters, cuvette positioner, temperature control and measurement and angle of polarization and lifetime measurements; 6) the lamp range must be 260 â 1000nm. The lamp intensity must be 45 mW/nm @ 275 nm.; 7) the system must have the capability of light excitation down to 230 nanometers; 8) wavelength accuracy: plus or minus 0.2nm â wavelength reproducibility: plus or minus 0.25nm; and 9) signal-to-noise ratio must be no less than 2000:1 at room temperature and 6000:1 with cooled housing. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes/proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The government will award based upon the best value for the government. Any party interested in providing this item should contact the Contract Specialist listed by September 13, 2004.
