The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) has a requirement for a Promega PowerPlex 16 System, 400rx. This requirement is being issued by Gov.Works under the franchise authority of the Department of the Interior on behalf of the AFIP in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Promega Corporation for this requirement in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. The PowerPlex 16 is currently the only kit available that contains the loci penta-D and penta-E, which add significantly to the discrimination power of the system.
